Staying safe
Last updated: 12 October 2026
1. What this is about
At feva you meet new people — online and when going out. The vast majority of encounters are good. Even so: someone you have just met online remains a stranger at first — even if the two of you have been writing for hours or are standing in the same club. The following points help you stay safe.
2. How feva protects you
- Reporting with one tap. Every profile, every chat and every story can be reported directly in the app.
- Blocking. You can block any person yourself. After that no contact is possible, and they no longer see your presence at a club either.
- Every report is reviewed. We look at each one as quickly as we can, and we give priority to indications of danger to life and limb, of minors or of criminal content. Confirmed violations we remove or suspend.
- Word filter. An automatic filter blocks messages and profile texts that contain terms from a short list of unambiguously criminal expressions. It is deliberately kept narrow and does not replace a review of the content. Photos and stories we review by hand after reports — which is why your report matters.
- Restrained default settings. Your check-in only becomes visible after five minutes. Automatic check-in in the background and sharing your live location are switched off by default.
3. Before you meet
- Take your time. Write in the app first.
- Stay on the platform. Anyone who immediately pushes for WhatsApp or Telegram often wants to escape moderation.
- Be sceptical of "too good to be true". Quick declarations of love, stories that do not add up, pressure.
- Feel free to do some research. A reverse image search exposes many fake profiles.
4. Privacy
- Surname, address, workplace, daily routine and financial details do not belong in the first chat.
- Watch the backgrounds in photos and stories: house numbers, street signs, company logos, the view from your window.
- To begin with, use only your first name.
- Think about which other profiles you link — they often reveal more than you realise.
- Report suspicious profiles immediately. That way you protect others too.
5. Using location deliberately
- What others see: Your matches see that you are at a particular club — not where exactly you are standing. As long as "Visible at the club" is on, your profile can additionally be shown to other people who are currently filtering for that club, even without a match. Switch the setting off if you do not want that.
- Automatic check-in is voluntary and can be switched off again at any time, in the app and in your phone's system settings.
- Live location is something you share deliberately with one person and only for a limited time. End the sharing when you no longer need it.
- Proximity is no proof of trustworthiness. Treat someone who happens to be in the same club just as cautiously as a purely online match.
- Watch for patterns. If someone turns up "by chance" strikingly often wherever you are: block and report.
6. Never send money
- No real date needs a bank transfer from you.
- Typical scams: supposed emergencies, being stranded abroad, customs fees for a "visit", investment and crypto tips, gift cards.
- Never pass on verification codes, gift card codes or bank details.
- Do not click suspicious links and never enter login details on an unfamiliar site.
- Pressure, haste and "don't tell anyone" are signs of manipulation. Talk to someone before you act.
7. The first meeting
- A public, busy place — café, bar, well-attended club. Not at your home or at the other person's.
- Tell someone you trust who you are meeting, where and when.
- Phone charged, agree on a check-in ("I'll be in touch at 22:00").
- Travel there and back under your own steam. Don't let yourself be picked up the first time and don't give out your address.
- Trust your gut feeling. Leaving early is completely fine and you owe nobody an explanation.
8. Alcohol and drugs
- Know your limits — especially at a first meeting.
- Keep an eye on your drink, never leave it unattended and don't accept open drinks from strangers (drink spiking).
- If you suddenly feel inexplicably dazed: get help immediately, from the staff, from security or from friends.
- Make sure you get home safely — with a plan that does not depend on the other person.
9. In an emergency
| Emergency call | Number |
|---|---|
| Police | 133 |
| European emergency number (EU-wide) | 112 |
| Ambulance | 144 |
| Fire brigade | 122 |
| Frauenhelpline gegen Gewalt (women's helpline against violence, 24 h, free of charge) | 0800 222 555 |
| Emergency number for deaf people (SMS/fax) | 0800 133 133 |
In acute danger, call first, then report. In public places, club staff, security and bar staff will help you. Screenshots of chats and profiles help when filing a criminal complaint. Please also report the incident to us via the contact form so that we can protect others.
Suspected depictions of child abuse: contact the police immediately (133). In feva, please also use the report function.
10. What we cannot do
We check neither the identity nor the background or the intentions of users — there is no background check. Despite the word filter, the report function and moderation, no platform can prevent every kind of misconduct. These tips do not replace common sense. Responsibility for encounters lies with you. More on this in the terms of use, the community guidelines and the privacy policy. The German version is authoritative and is available at fevanightlife.com/sicherheit.
